Dental Care

Pain from dental disease is one of the most common conditions in animals. Just because your pet is eating does not mean they are without pain. Animals build up a tolerance for pain over time, and you may never know how bad their mouths really are. It is important to have your pet’s teeth examined at least once yearly to determine if dental work needs to be done. Here at Madison Park Veterinary Hospital, we pride ourselves on our dentistry procedures. We have digital dental radiography equipment,an ultrasonic scaling and polishing unit as well as hand scaling instruments. We also focus on pain management and perform nerve blocks for animals that need to have teeth extracted.

Anesthetic dental cleaning includes a thorough ultrasonic scaling and polishing, cleaning under the gum line, dental x-rays, dental nerve blocks, and extractions, if needed.

Signs of dental disease are foul breath, decreased appetite, pawing at mouth, redness and swelling of gums, and pain and bleeding when eating. If you see any of these signs at home, you should have your pet’s mouth examined. We encourage you to have routine check ups to identify any problem areas.

Daily tooth brushing is recommended, as well as daily dental chews to help control plaque build up.
